Willow

“Some would say that the concept of creating a harmonious living environment bellow deck is long overdue in the world of contemporary yacht design and construction.
It is antithesis of the ‘caravan mentality’ of fitting out a yacht and one of the bright new stars of the art form is Jon Boffa, a designer/builder working out of Wauchope in the northern part of New South Wales.

One of Boffa’s recent projects was the fitting out of the 13m ketch willow where carful design and attention to detail have created a living area that is both easy to live and functional. His brief was to come up with an uncluttered interior that would complement the open deck layout of willow free-standing rig.
Working mostly with native timbers, Boffa concentrates on building versatile living areas that create the illusion of space – particularly of a cruising yacht.

While Boffa’s background is in the design and construction of buildings and interiors he considers bellow-deck work a real challenge that is frequently misunderstood by many yacht fitters. He has a studio workshop in the area of King Creek and can be contacted at anytime.”
