Alaskan 49, complete restoration.
Make new from bow to stern, top to bottom.
Extreme rot removal

Fix design faults;
  • Plywood used under teak decking, not marine grade and end grain poorly sealed with half round timber moulding
  • Main stringer from bow to stern passing through engine room not thoroughly seasoned and suffers major cross sectional shrinkage this in turn causes side decks to collapse and trap water causing extensive rot.
  • The heavy timber rubbing strake on lower decks secured by long bronze coach screws, enter a join between plywood and the tops of frames cause delaminating
Extremely good sea going boat, comfortable and stable All work was performed by Soundcraft Marine, Wauchope.
